Reading the story below brought to mind how the press can condemn a person accused before any actual courtroom proceedings are conducted. I have handled many "family violence" cases in which the "victim" confessed to my investigator that the charges were made up and completely false.

I just watched a jury selection (voir dire) on a DWI case and watched the prosecutor tell the jury panel (venire) that they could consider as evidence of guilt the fact that a person arrested for DWI refused to take the breath test.
