About DWI Lawyer

Jamie Balagia is the DWI DUDE, a DWI lawyer who handles criminal cases from Austin to San Antonio and all surrounding areas.

Jamie recently attended and successfully passed the very rigorous proficiency based training in Atlanta at the 2008 Forensic Blood and Urine Seminar where the world’s foremost experts like Dr. Fran Gengo, Dr. Albert Staubus, Dr. A.W. Jones, Dr. Joseph Citron and Ron Moore lectured for over forty-six (46) hours on a host of subjects including:

hospital blood testing, legal blood alcohol testing, urinalysis testing, crime lab errors, hospital lab errors, pre-collection errors, collection errors, analysis errors, solid dose sample drug analysis, hospital blood analysis for ETOH and drugs, ELISA, FPIA, CEDIA, KIMS, RIA, EMIT, Vacu-Elute, Headspace Gas Chromatography, Liquid Gas Chromatography, Thin-layer Chromatography, GC-FTIR, Mass Spectrometry, Photo-eclectic analysis, chain of custody, storage, transportation and delivery related issues, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, post-mortem analysis, intake, absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (elimination) of alcohol and drugs, endogenous versus exogenous alcohol production, medical conditions that mimic intoxication, elimination kinetics (half lives, Michaelis-Menten kinetics), and various analytical laboratory issues.

Jamie owns and maintains the Intoxilyzer 5000 68EN breath testing machine that is used in the State of Texas for breath testing in DWI cases.

“This machine helps me to prepare and experiment with various defenses associated with cases in which my clients provide a breath test. It is effective for cases in which my client refuses to blow as well as when they try to blow but are deemed to have refused by the arresting officer. I also own several of the hand-held alcohol detection devices that are used by law enforcement officers throughout Texas and the Nation. I am qualified as a practitioner and instructor of the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and have taught the class to law enforcement personnel, private investigators and criminal defense attorneys. Lastly, I am a trained and certified Phlebotomist. A phlebotomist is an individual trained to draw blood for laboratory tests. The State may have drawn your blood for their case against you.”

The DWI Dude is trained to handle your case and stay one step ahead of the dark side!

“I am dedicated to the zealous defense of my fellow citizens who are accused of DWI, DUI, or other alcohol related matters and drug offenses. I have developed close relationships with a variety of DWI Associated Professionals that assist in the defense of those charged with DWI. These Professionals are experts in the fields of: Standardized Field Sobriety Testing; Breath Test Devices; Blood Draw Analysis (phlebotomy); Urine Analysis; Hair Follicle Analysis; Pulmonary issues; Podiatry (balance and walking) issues; Radio Frequency Interference issues; Video and Audio Analysis; Drug Analysis; Laboratory Quality Assurance issues; Vehicular Safety issues; Accident Reconstruction Experts; Pharmacology; Toxicology; Police Procedure; Private Investigations, Adult Probation, Parole matters and many others.”
